Diploma in Renal Dialysis Technology program is aimed at preparing students for administering hemodialysis treatment to patients with renal failure under supervision of expert nurse or a physician. The course includes in-depth training in basic anatomy and physiology, interpretation of dialysis preparation, dialysite preparation, set-up and maintenance of extracorporeal circuit and dialyzer, monitoring of equipment’s, patient preparation, taking of vital signs, safety & sanitation, emergency intervention, ethics and standards. Subjects usually taught under this program involves care of cardiac and respiratory technologies, Clinical medical lab, applied imaging science and dialysis technologies, anatomy and physiology, pathology, microbiology and biochemistry, pharmacology, concepts of renal disease, etc. The course also involves internship in hospital or clinics enabling students to understand practical aspects of the program. Also, case studies, seminars, guest lectures and presentations are part of the curriculum. Students graduating from the Diploma in Renal Dialysis Technology program can undergo further studies, training or join hospitals and clinics having facilities for dialysis technology. The course is currently offered at both diploma and degree levels. Depending on the need of the students, they can choose either modes of the program, however requirements varies for both the levels.
