OVERVIEW
Dentistry – Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is a five-year degree course, approved by Dental Council of India (DCI) (New Delhi) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (New Delhi). Besides four years of theory classes and clinical training, one year compulsory internship is also a part of the course. The first two years of Dentistry – Bachelor of Dental Surgery focus on the basics of medical sciences and an introduction into the dental subjects, the third year brings with it an entry into the real world of dentistry ; the clinics. Students in Dentistry – Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) are exposed to a variety of procedures and treat patients along with ongoing theory about the same. The final year focuses completely on the Dental sciences and advanced clinical practices. An in-depth theoretical knowledge and appropriate clinical application is the crux of our teaching at the Rayat Bahra Dental College and Hospital.
Further, the integrated curriculum prepares students for achieving actual patient care and work collaboratively in a team. Dentistry – Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree program targets in producing a dentist who is socially acceptable and can work safely and effectively on patients with regards to their diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and oral diseases.
