M.Sc Physics is the study of matter, energy, and the relation between them. Physics is the oldest and most basic pure science. Its discoveries find applications in all other sciences, because matter and energy are the fundamental constituents of the natural world. The other sciences are split up off from physics to become sciences.
There are a lot of career opportunities within the Country and the Globe for being a physicist within the Country there are many prestigious organizations such as Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Bhabha atomic research Center (BARC), Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), IITs, IISc, Bangaluru, IISER, NISER, etc. where one can contribute directly to the national interests. Academia or scientific research, are not only the options for a Physics Student but also there are positions for scientists in industrial research such as Applied Materials, Intel, GE Jack Welch Research Center in Bangalore, Hewlett Packard etc. Moreover, even if one opt academia or research in national labs, there are plenty of opportunities in India to provide consultancy services for industries and may even start up own companies. For own entrepreneurship one can have opportunities in the fields of antennas, tracking technology, lasers for medicine and industrial processes, medical devices, semiconductor devices and the solar industry, etc..
The Course of M.Sc Physics at RBU, Mohali, is started in July, 2016. The courses of Undergraduate and Postgraduate (B. Sc. and M.Sc.) curriculum are designed as per the latest UGC guidelines of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to meet the requirements of expertise in the field of Research, Academia and Industries. In addition to normal teaching-learning, the University has a regular schedule of Student seminars every week for the exposure of the students and one scientific-cum-Industrial visit per semester.
