M.Sc. (Physics)

M.Sc. (Physics)

OVERVIEW
M. Sc. in Physics is a postgraduate program that offers advanced training in the fundamental principles and modern techniques of physics. The program is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the physical world and the laws that govern it.
The duration of the M.Sc. program in Physics is 2 years, and it involves coursework, laboratory work, and research. The core topics covered in the program include:
  • Classical mechanics: The study of the motion of particles and systems under the influence of forces.
  • Mathematical Methods: In mathematical physics, students typically learn advanced mathematical techniques and concepts that are used to model and analyse physical phenomena.
  • Electromagnetism: The study of electric and magnetic fields and their interactions with charged particles.
  • Quantum mechanics: The study of the behavior of particles at the atomic and subatomic scale, and the principles that govern their interactions.
  • Thermodynamics and statistical mechanics: The study of the relationships between heat, temperature, energy, and the behavior of large systems.
  • Condensed matter physics: The study of the physical properties of materials, including electronic, magnetic, and optical properties.
  • Nuclear and Particle Physics: The study of the behaviour of particles, and their role in nature and natural phenomena.
  • Astrophysics and cosmology: The study of the physical properties and evolution of stars, galaxies, and the universe as a whole.
Some of the skills that our students develop during the program include:
  • Advanced knowledge of the fundamental principles of physics and their applications.
  • Ability to design and carry out experiments to test theoretical predictions.
  • Ability to analyse data and interpret experimental results using statistical methods and computational tools.
  • Ability to communicate scientific results effectively through oral presentations and written reports
fter completing the program, students can pursue careers in research, teaching, or other related fields. You may also continue your studies by pursuing Ph.D. in Physics or related fields.
